The Australia India Institute (AII) and the University of Tasmania is pleased to announce the High Commissioner of India in Australia, Navdeep Suri will launch the latest of the Institute’s Fearless Nadia papers.
The Idea of Australia in Indian Media by renowned journalist Jane Rankin-Reid is a provocative and probing examination of the racial and cultural perceptions held by Indians in the 21st century.
She argues that while “Many Indians still see Australia as a poorer version of the United States … deepening awareness and increased familiarity with modern India promises tremendous benefit to Australia’s economic, trade and cultural future.”
For his first public address in Tasmania, High Commissioner Suri will deliver a speech titled India and Australia: Glimpses through a Diplomat's Diary, a unique and personal insight into the range of activities pursued in his life, as he works to strengthen ties between India and Australia.
The launch marks the first partnered event between the AII and the University of Tasmania’s Asia Institute. Light refreshments will be served following formalities.
