Asha Society works in the slum communities in Delhi to bring about long-term and sustainable transformation to residents’ quality of life. Healthcare is the core of Asha’s work, but they also empower people so they can help themselves in the areas of education, gender equality, financial inclusion and the living environment.

Dr Kiran Martin
Dr Kiran Martin is an Indian pediatrician, social worker and an influential figure in the field of slum development. Dr Martin is the founder of Asha, a non governmental organisation working on health and community development in slums, with her work benefiting more than 700,000 people in around 100 slum colonies of Delhi.
The Hon Lisa Singh
The Hon Lisa Singh is a former Australian Senator and was the first woman of South Asian heritage to be elected to the Australian Parliament. She is currently the CEO of the Australia India Institute. She is also Deputy Chair of the Australia-India Council. In 2014 she was awarded the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman by the President of India for building friendly Australia-India relations, the highest civilian honour for a person of Indian origin.
