Perspectives: Asia | Putting the ‘Indo’ in the Pacific
As part of their Perspectives: Asia series, the Griffith Asia Institute hosted Lisa Singh to speak on “Putting the ‘Indo’ in the Pacific” in Brisbane on Thursday, 25 May. Lisa delved into the crucial role of Australia-India cooperation in the Pacific, India’s historical ties to the Pacific (including that of her own family), and the unique advantage this gave them. With recent activities between India and Pacific Island Countries, including PM Modi’s visit to PNG that week, and Australia’s renewed commitment to the Pacific, Lisa explored the significance of regional partnerships in addressing the broader challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
