Skills masterclasses: video series
Since the 2015 launch of Skill India (the National Skills Development Mission of India) there has been a transformation of India’s skills development system. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, in partnership with other central and state ministries, authorities, industry associations and institutions has overseen structural and institution-level reforms aimed at addressing the mismatch between demand and supply of skilled labour.
India’s National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) commits to allowing new models of transnational education and greater market access for foreign universities to improve the quality and competitiveness of India’s higher education sectors. The NEP, along with India’s action to reform its education environment, is creating an enabling environment for Australian stakeholders interested in diversifying into India.
This video series is deigned to enhance the participation of Australian VET providers in India’s skill system. The masterclasses, delivered across 2023, provide an overview of the Indian skills operating environment and guidance for Australian VET providers interested in engaging in India or building their existing profile.
The Australia India Institute partnered with India’s National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) to deliver the first five masterclasses. The project was supported by the Australian Government Department of Education.
