Associate Professor Haripriya (Priya) Rangan is a Principal Fellow at the School of Geography, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Melbourne. She has over two decades of transdisciplinary research and teaching in political ecology, environmental history, urban and regional development, and natural resource management in the Indian Ocean region, with particular focus on South Africa, India, and northwest Australia.
Priya served as Director of Research and Academic Programs at the Australia India Institute between 2016 and 2020. During this period, she was responsible for delivery of all bilateral policy and education-related research carried out at the Institute for the Australian government and the state government of Victoria. She returned in 2023 as Principal Consultant to assist the Institute with research projects for the Australian Government Department of Education and emerging research initiatives.
