Professor David Lowe holds a Chair in Contemporary History and is Director of the Centre for Contemporary Histories at Deakin University. He is a biographer and historian of modern international affairs, especially with reference to Australia’s role in the Asia and the Pacific. He is a co-founder of the Australian Policy and History network, and has served as Board Member of the journal, Australian Historical Studies, and as member of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Editorial Advisory Board, advising the Australian Foreign Minister with respect to the Documents on Australian Foreign Policy Series. He held a Smuts Visiting Fellowship at the University of Cambridge 2018-19, and was Visiting Professor in Australian Studies at the University of Tokyo, 2019-20. David is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia.
