Dr Surjeet Dogra Dhanji

Dr Surjeet Dogra Dhanji was the Director of Cultural Diplomacy at the Australia India Institute and is a Post-doctorate Honorary Fellow at the Asia Institute, University of Melbourne. Her research focuses on the Indian diaspora and immigration in Australia.

Her recent publications include a Working Paper on The Underrepresentation of Indian Australians in the Three Tiers of Government working paper (Melbourne Asia Review) and a book chapter ‘Diaspora to the rescue: The role of civil society groups in helping Indians stranded by the COVID-19 pandemic’ in Transnational Civil Society in Asia with Dr Pradeep Taneja. She also contributed to the role of the Indian Diaspora in DFAT’s An India Economic Strategy to 2035 Report with Ass. Prof. H Rangan.  Her current work includes collaborative research on how Asian international students have been coping during the COVID-19 pandemic.
