The Institute hosted it’s first Insight Series event where Dr Rituparna Chakraborty spoke on Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s transnational vision and relevance in today’s interconnected world for ‘Tagore and the West: An Interplay of Ideas’.
Dr Chakraborty is the author of Reifying Transnationalism: Tagore and the West, where she unpacks Tagore’s revolutionary ideas of global unity and his critique on nationalism. The event also delved into his ideas on education, cultural and spiritual convergence and his advocacy for universal philanthropy that transcends geographical boundaries.
Dr Chakraborty is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of English at Swami Vivekananda University, where she also serves as Deputy Director of the Centre for Australian Studies.
