Australia India Renewables Dialogue

Australia India Renewables Dialogue

Strengthening the Clean Energy Transition Partnership

Sydney, 16 July 2024

Clean energy is a strategic element in the Australia India relationship. There is significant scope to build on our traditional links through clean energy as both countries position to be renewable energy superpowers.

India’s extraordinary progress toward meeting its target of 50 per cent renewable energy by 2030 is creating significant opportunities for Australia, across areas of policy, financial investment, technological capabilities, and material development. Similarly, there is significant scope for India to become a much bigger part of Australia’s energy transition, including as a major investor with opportunities for innovation, manufacturing, skills and jobs.

Energy transition is set to be a major engine for the bilateral relationship into the future. But presently, bilateral understanding of the opportunities, links and initiatives is underdeveloped.

The Australia India Renewables Dialogue will be delivered in partnership with Investment New South Wales on the sidelines of the Australian Clean Energy Summit. The purpose is to bring together government, academic, and private sector leaders from India and Australia to explore the diverse opportunities created by both countries’ net-zero targets.

  • Sharing experiences between Indian and Australian business leaders for areas of cooperation and investment
  • Considering ways in which Australia and India can complement each other in delivering clean energy
  • Analysing how Australia and India can help bring together experts to discuss shared concerns and experiences
  • Prioritising areas of most potential for bilateral cooperation and investment, and how these might be more strongly pursued

  • Session 1: Spurring innovation and manufacturing
  • Session 2: Fostering two-way trade and investment
