The rise of China and its assertiveness has forced many countries in the Indo-Pacific to reconfigure their defence and security strategies.
India, which has been at the receiving end of Chinese belligerence in recent years along the northern Himalayan borders and in the wider South Asian and Indian Ocean regions, has also reoriented its strategic posture.
A key plank of India’s policy reorientation rests on forging a robust strategic relationship with major democratic countries, especially the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Japan and Australia. Further, strategic technology cooperation has been an integral part of India’s strategic engagement with these countries.
