Indian Ocean Maritime Defence Roundtable
The Institute hosted a delegation of four Indian Ocean security experts from India in July. During the 9- day visit, the four experts will engage with a broad spectrum of think tank, academic and policy professionals in Canberra, Sydney and Perth. As part of this visit, the Australia India Institute will co-host a roundtable on Indian Ocean Maritime Security in Canberra on 22 July 2024, in partnership with the ANU National Security College. These participants will give presentations on areas of their expertise to stimulate greater dialogue on Indian Ocean maritime challenges. Our visiting experts are:

- Dr Abhishek Mishra, Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA)

Objectives
This roundtable will afford each of the four visiting experts a platform to present unique research findings on an area of Australia India bilateral cooperation in the Indian Ocean. From these four presentations, a discussion will focus on:
- Exploring areas of Australia India cooperation in the Indian Ocean
- How can cooperation on maritime security between Australia and India help provide stability and security in the Indian Ocean?
- How can Indian Ocean institutions play a greater role in advancing maritime security?
