In the November session of the Australia India Institute Insight Series, Preeti Mudliar explored on how citizens accomplish citizenship and welfare inclusion in a digital state. Built on the promise of inclusion, transparency, efficiency, and ease, digital public infrastructures like India’s Aadhaar – the world’s largest citizen biometric identification database are modeling new imaginations and practices of digital governance.
About Dr Mudliar
Preeti Mudliar’s research centres on the ethnography of digital infrastructures She is currently a Maitri Fellow at the Australia India Institute, University of Melbourne. Her work is funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and administered by the Centre for Australia-India Relations. She was also the inaugural ‘Women in Tech’ Fellow for 2024 awarded by the Australian Consulate Bengaluru and the Australia India Institute. She holds a PhD from The University of Texas, Austin.
