Dr. Srilata Ravi is Emeritus Professor of French and Francophone Literature at the University of Alberta and former Director of the Institute of Francophone Transdisciplinary Studies (IMELDA) at Campus Saint-Jean. With more than three decades of international academic experience spanning India, Singapore, Australia, and Canada, she has established a distinguished career in teaching, research, and academic leadership. After earning her PhD from the University of Madras, Dr. Ravi taught at the National University of Singapore (1994–2003) and the University of Western Australia (2004–2010) before joining Campus Saint-Jean, the French-language campus of the University of Alberta, in Edmonton. Her research focuses on comparative Francophone cultures, and she has published extensively in the fields of postcolonial studies, globalization, and cultural studies. Her long standing interest in the literary and cultural histories of the Indian Ocean world continues to shape her current research on diasporic, transnational, and minority cultures. In addition, she has contributed to multidisciplinary projects examining public health practices in multicultural and migrant societies.
