Patrick combines deep government and commercial experience at a global level, with a particular focus on India over three decades.
As a senior diplomat he was international adviser to two Prime Ministers, adviser to Australia’s longest serving Foreign Minister and had a range of diplomatic and official roles over twenty five years. At the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet he led international work across government on a wide range of geostrategic, security and economic priorities, including Australia’s key relationships with the United States, India, China, Indonesia and Japan, Australia’s engagement on global and regional economic issues such as the G20 leaders’ response to the global financial crisis and Australia’s free trade agenda, as well as significant development aid and community focused initiatives.
Patrick has extensive knowledge and experience on India, encompassing two diplomatic postings to New Delhi, most recently as Australia’s High Commissioner to India. This includes extensive travel in India for over a year throughout university years, study on India at university including a post-graduate diploma in Hindi, and as a Senior Fellow at the Asia Society Policy Institute.
He is a founder of the globally leading climate and nature investment and advisory firm Pollination, leveraging wide-ranging work on climate change notably as Australia’s Ambassador for the Environment negotiating the historic Paris Agreement. Pollination advises major corporates, financial institutions and governments on climate and nature strategy and solutions, as well as raising its own funds and investment platforms on solutions and developing major transition projects for a net zero, nature positive future. This includes significant work in India.
