In the August session of the Australia India Institute Insight Series, Urmi Tat explored India’s development cooperation policy and this approach as a pillar of foreign policy is a means to extend India’s influence in its dynamic neighbourhood, an avenue for greater South-South cooperation and a vehicle to counter Chinese economic prowess.
About Urmi
Urmi Tat is Manager, Govt Affairs and Public Policy for Salesforce in South Asia, where she supports external engagement strategy and policy advocacy, collaborating with governments, lawmakers, and academia. At Salesforce, she leads efforts around AI for sustainability and sustainable AI, future of work and safe and trustworthy AI. She also leads advocacy on the adoption of AI in the public sector and supports Salesforce’s broader engagement aligned with India’s digital transformation goals. Urmi is a U.S.-India AI Fellow at the Observer Research Foundation, where her research focuses on the intersection of AI and sustainability. Previously, she worked with the United Kingdom’s Department for Business and Trade on the UK–India Free Trade Agreement, with India’s Ministry of Commerce on digital and semiconductor policy, and with the Centre for Air Power Studies, Indian Air Force, on geo-economic issues in South Asia.
